We are thrilled to announce the launch of our new tutor matching service, w/is, designed to specifically provide international school students with personalized academic support and help them achieve their goals. At w/is, we understand that every student has their own unique learning style and pace. For this reason, we offer online and in-person one-on-one tutoring sessions that are tailored to each student's individual needs and goals. Our team of highly qualified tutors is dedicated to helping students succeed and reach their full potential.
Our Tutors
Now, when it comes to tutoring, what do you think is the most important characteristic that the service must have to ensure the success of their students? At w/is, we believe that this goes to the tutor themselves. Once a student starts their first lesson, the tutors themselves become the backbone of not only what the student learns, but how they interact with the student also affects the student’s overall perspective on academics as well. This goes on to impact crucial areas such as engagement levels, their willingness to learn, study habits, attitude, etc. Therefore, we carefully select our tutors from a pool of university students who have graduated from an international school in Japan or abroad who not only have the knowledge to teach, but also have the necessary experience at International Schools to understand the circumstances of the students. Our approach to education is not just about improving grades, but about providing tips and tricks to help students gain a deeper understanding of the material. Our selective hiring process takes an innovative approach to tutoring that sets us apart from other tutoring schools, allowing us to become a "Senpai" figure and guide our students to a successful international school career.
Our System
We’ve now mentioned about the quality of our tutors, but here at w/is, we don’t just stop there. For students with new tutors, we understand that one of many worries that the parents may have is “Can the tutor effectively achieve my child’s goals” or “Does the tutor’s teaching style match with my child?” No problem, we have set up a system that throws all of these worries out the door. Before any of the teaching even begins, we make sure to schedule a meeting between the parents/guardians and our management team. Here we will have the time to discuss the goals for the student, their study habits, their personality, and even about their extracurricular activities. This discussion will allow us to properly understand who the student is outside of what is written on paper, and hence we will be able to match them with the most appropriate tutor. We believe that a match with a complementing tutor is important overall since students will be even more inclined to learn and take the course seriously if they look forward to taking their lessons. Even if there is a case where the student doesn’t feel comfortable with the tutor, we are able to switch the tutor - although this will be highly unlikely.
Our Courses
Lastly, we have a plethora of courses for you to choose from. In the bigger picture, we largely split our courses into two separate groups: the standard course and the test course. Our standard course is the more basic course where we have elementary school, middle school, and high school level courses. Each course is designed to specifically match with the academic level of our students, and are flexible in order to accommodate the needs of each specific student. Our other course is the test course where the courses are more specialized in specific areas such as the SAT, TOEFL, and the AP or IB diploma.
